Become a Health Coach

With a family history of cancer, I knew I wanted to live a proactive lifestyle that focused on disease prevention. When I became a Health Coach, I helped my clients do the same for themselves and their families.

As a Health Coach, I work with my clients every day to support and guide them in natural hormone balance and creating the healthy lifestyle that works best for them. My clients experience life-changing transformations, and I’m honored to play my part.

If you’re here, you’ve probably experienced a life-changing health transformation yourself and may be curious about how you can help others do the same. When I was considering becoming a Health Coach, I talked to someone who had recently graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) and was working in the field. It helped me make the decision that got me where I am today. Because of that conversation, I am always happy to talk to people who are interested in becoming Health Coaches to share my experience and pay it forward.

FAQs

WHAT DO HEALTH COACHES DO?

Health Coaches help their clients gain clarity around their unique health concerns, articulate their goals, form action plans, and hold clients accountable as they make small steps toward better health.

Health Coaches usually have a niche, or a specific area of health they focus on such as women’s health, gut balance, or helping busy executives incorporate relaxation into their day. Maybe you already have a niche in mind or maybe it’ll come to you later on. Right now, you are likely exploring what is possible.

WHERE DO HEALTH COACHES WORK?

Health Coaches may help clients with setting wellness goals, weight management, stress reduction, fine-tuning their intuition, coping with life transitions, and improving mood and energy. Health Coaches help clients explore a variety of different areas in their life - health is multidimensional. This may mean helping them find meaningful work, connecting more with others, getting their health on track, and feeling more empowered in their relationships, career, finances, and creative side.

Health Coaches help clients build self-awareness, resiliency, and confidence, and navigate the inevitable roadblocks and setbacks that can occur along any health journey. Health Coaches may educate their clients on the benefits and harms of certain foods and lifestyle behaviors, but do not force, judge, prescribe, diagnose, or treat. Health Coaches can work alongside other health professionals, such as doctors, nutritionists, or therapists, to compliment the treatment a client is already receiving.

Health Coaches use active listening and motivational interviewing skills to safely and effectively motivate clients to change. Health Coaches hold a safe space, allowing their clients to better understand their ailments and find the lifestyle and dietary approaches that are right for them.

WHAT DO HEALTH COACHES HELP CLIENTS WITH?

Health Coaches can work in any number of capacities. Many Health Coaches work in private practice, while others work at corporations, gyms, spas, wellness centers, medical facilities, health food stores, farmer’s markets, even schools. Many doctors employ Health Coaches in their practice to help clients follow through with their recommendations. As a Health Coach, you may choose to coach clients as well as write books and other wellness content, do speaking engagements, or launch a podcast.

HOW DO I BECOME A HEALTH COACH?

Health Coaches earn their credentials from a reputable health coaching school such as the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). The IIN curriculum offers a mixture of nutrition science, business development, mind-body wellness, and coaching training, that allows their students to build a thriving coaching practice or become a member of a wellness team.
